Over £20,000 has been raised since July 2007
The non uniform day in July 2007 raised £460 to support the Airbridge Trust a charity providing educational support for students in Jamaica. A Year 13 student worked with the charity last summer during her Gap Year.
On the two non uniform days in October and February the following was raised;
£811.98 for Jeans for Genes
£793.63 for UNICEF, to support water and sanitation projects in the Gambia
Rag events and non uniform days throughout the year raised £6,572
- The sixth form held two very successful events:
The Dance Show raised £1,331.87
The Fashion Show and rag week raised £2,221.44
- Non uniform days raised £3,018.38
There were many enterprising group and individual activities. Notably:
- Judith Willis Year 8 raised £34.25 for the Women’s Refuge by selling gingerbread houses and this helped towards the Christmas presents for the mothers and children
- Chloe Lovatt in 7A raised £9.10 for Demelza House
- The sale of Year 8 art work raised £245.39 for Zambia
- Simon Briley and Sam Bannister organised a performance by the band, Tamarin Sky and raised £535.23 For Teenage Cancer Trust. A cheque was presented during a Year 12 general studies focus day
- The Year 11 prom raised £500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust
Our partnership with Groutville School in South Africa has continued. Mrs Bennett, Mr Wesson, Ms Bradbrook and Ms Anderson visited the school recently. £1,000 was raised to provide resources to set up a jewellery making business. This will enable the school to raise further funds. The sponsorship scheme continues; Invicta students support the education of 15 Groutville students.
We have a new partnership with Khawla school in Sana’a in Yemen and £1,000 raised by the students has supported the development of projects across the two schools to raise cultural awareness. Students in Year 10 have recently sent a large package of gifts to their friends in Yemen.
We also continue to support Romania Connect; Mrs Turner is the charity’s treasurer and we now run the sponsorship scheme that helps 60 disabled people in Bucharest.
Year 13 applied business students organised remarkably enterprising events as part of their A2 coursework.
- One group raised money for a Christmas Party for the members of the Weavering Street Over 60s Club.
- Another organised a Charity Golf Day at the London Golf Club and raised a staggering £7,500; £3,500 of this for Heart of Kent Hospice.
As a result of student fund raising, we are able to present the following cheques to the 6 charities chosen by the sixth form council:
- £1,733.14 (includes the sale of Year 8 artwork) to the Silverwood Trust to support a project in Zambia – our international charity this year
- £1,488.14 to The Mid Kent Women’s Refuge
- £1,488.14 to Kent Air Ambulance

And finally, two cheques to the Heart of Kent Hospice, £1488.14 from our rag charity fund raising and £ 3,500 as part of the Charity Golf Day fund raising. |
